WHAT WILL YOU DO YOUR WRITING ON?
Some people prefer writing on the computer
Do whichever feels the most comfortable and natural for you
Don’t forget to save your work, and make sure you don’t lose it*
THINK OF YOUR GOALS
Do you want to prove a point?
To develop a new theory?
To get a good grade?
Keep your personal goals in mind as you write.
*Make sure you understand the assignment – if you don’t ask questions*
REMEMBER THE INSTRUCTIONS
If your paper is supposed to be clear, informative or subjective
Keep this in mind as you write
Keep a hard copy of your assignment (a printout) nearby
And a copy of The Writer’s resource Handbook for references
*Read your paper out loud - and read it often*
GIVE YOURSELF CHECK POINTS
Am I off topic?
Am I giving too much information?
Am I giving enough?
Is this clear?
And most importantly;
Would I need to explain my paper or could I just hand it to someone and say, "read this"?
And remember you don’t have to love your paper but you still have to do it, it is just an assignment, not your life’s work.
